Excerpt
Sighing, I wrap a towel around my waist and open the door, ready to try and be at least behave cordially, which I know is only right. “Listen, can I—”

“She’s gone.”

I look up, startled by Laney’s voice and even more shocked to see her sitting on my bed. Thank God I put on a towel. “Where’d she go?”

“Home, I guess.” She shrugs. “I didn’t ask. I heard the front door slam and got up to see what the hell was going on. Since you’re here and she’s not, I’m assuming it was her.”

How did I not hear the door slam? Not that I would’ve chased her. “All right, she left. So what’re you doing in here?”

She stands, grabbing some shorts off my floor and throwing them at me. “Go put those on and we’ll talk. Since I’m up,” she reminds me with an evil glare.

I head back in the bathroom to change, and stay in there, locking the door and taking a deep breath. I’m over six feet tall and lift almost every day, but yes, I’m scared to face Laney. Not only is she a hellcat when she wants to be, but I don’t want to see the disgust or disappointment in her eyes. She’s one of my best friends, even more so after becoming roommates, and her opinion means a lot to me.

“Get out here!” she yells when she finally realizes I must be stalling. “Take it like a man.”

I might as well go out there or she’ll undoubtedly come in here, kicking in the door or taking it off the hinges in what I have no doubt would be less than five minutes.

She pats the bed beside her when I open the door. “Come sit down. We’re doing this now.”

I hesitantly take a seat, my knee bouncing as I wait for her to speak.

“First, and of the utmost importance, you know I call my father ‘Daddy,’ so hearing your visitors scream it repeatedly in the middle of the night freaks me out. I wake up thinking I’m in some bad Lifetime movie.”

Fighting my smirk, I agree. "Okay, got it." Maybe this little chat won’t be so bad after all.

"Second," she stands and tucks my extra pillow between the headboard and wall before sitting back down beside me, "on school and game nights, booty call curfew is eleven. That work for you?"

"Yeah." I sigh and run my hands along my head, wishing I had some hair to pull. "It won't happen again, Gidge. I'm sorry."

She places a hand on my shoulder with a small smile. "Don't be sorry. This is your house too and we hadn't talked about it. Now we have, so we're all good. Any rules you want to put in place?"

"Nah, I'm easy."

"Made crystal clear by the parade of women coming in and out of here." She laughs and scoots away quickly, ducking the pillow I grab and swing at her head. “Speaking of which, been busier than usual lately—you trying to make a little Guinness or Gonorrhea?"

Here we go—this is what she really wants to talk about. It was a nice segue, funny even, but I’m on to her.

MY REVIEW:

ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review.

I can honestly say, without a doubt, this is S.E. Hall's best book yet! I have been rooting for Sawyer since the series began, and I am so happy he finally has his own book! Watch out Dane and Evan…Sawyer is hot as sin!

Entice picks up with the guys at Parker's bachelor party, and we start to see that, although Sawyer is still caught up in his man-whoring ways, he's beginning to change his views on relationships. He sees the rest of his friends pairing off, and the way Parker and Hayden are around one another spikes his jealousy of what they have. "Why can't I find a girl like that?"

A certain dancer/stripper catches Sawyer's eye while at the bachelor party, and although she is probably the worst one he's ever seen, it doesn't deter his interest in the mysterious beauty. You think that's the last he'll see of her, but go figure, a few months down the road he runs into her again…while getting a BJ from her friend no less!

Things continue to go back and forth from better to worse with these two when Emmett shows up for an interview at The K. Although Emmett comes off as a sweet girl, she can be a bit standoffish, but Sawyer is determined to break down her walls. He doesn't care about her past…he just wants her, all of her. However, Emmett is afraid to let him into her life knowing the secret she is keeping him might push him away.

When Emmett finally reveals her secret, Sawyer is extremely understanding and steps up to the plate to help her out…and not out of pity. He genuinely cares about her, and he continues to show her just how serious he is about making things work between them. It's almost as though Sawyer instantly matured the second she walked into his life, but soon that responsibility consumes him, and he loses focus on what's most important: Emmett. Will he run when the going gets tough, or will he fight to keep the woman he is so clearly in love with?

I fell in love with this series when S.E. Hall released Emerge, and now I am even more in love after reading Entice. I love every single one of the characters, to the point that I almost feel like I know them as close friends. But Sawyer…he'll always have a special place in my heart. I love his sense of humor and devotion to his friends, and now we get to see a side of him that wasn't always present in the rest of the series…his huge heart.

If you haven't read this series yet, it is a MUST read! Love, love, love it and I know you will too!

MY REVIEW:

I was honored to beta read for Dawn and Emily and pleasantly surprised by this MC novel!

Jenna has had a hard life from the get-go. Her mother died from an overdose and her father, "Brew", handed her over to another member of the MC to use as he pleased. Though she was still a child herself, that didn't matter to Timmons and he was determined to make her his old lady.

When issues arise with the Mateland chapter of the Renegade Sons, Chipper shows up from Big Clifty to check things out. What he never expected to find was a young girl being beaten and raped by members of his own MC. He takes Jenna back to Big Clifty, where he and his wife, Mindy, raise her as their own daughter. There she meets Kidd, and although she is years younger than him, there is an instant attraction between them. Problem is, Kidd sees her as more of a sister and knows he can't have her since she is just shy of seventeen.

When Kidd comes back to Big Clifty after having been gone for a year, he discovers that Jenna has grown into a woman and the feelings he once had for her are stronger than ever. Unfortunately he has some extra baggage from Mateland, and even after tragedy hits home, he continues to keep Jenna at arms length because of her age. But that all changes the day she eighteen.

Just when you think things are going to take a turn for the better, tragedy strikes again and Kidd pushes Jenna even further away, this time possibly for good. Will they ever have their chance at a life together, or are some mistakes better left unforgiven? I'll leave that up to you to find out!

I really enjoyed this novel. It was so different from any other MC story I've read, and I loved all of the characters, especially Reese and Timber. The story flowed well and captured my attention from the very beginning...I couldn't put it down! The only issue I had was that I didn't feel as much of a romantic connection between Jenna and Kidd in the second half of the book. Other than that, the story was fantastic! I even caught myself crying while reading the epilogue! I highly recommend this book!

Teaser Tuesday #9 - Unforeseen Heartbeat

Here's another long teaser for your viewing pleasure. This is part of an excerpt from Unforeseen Heartbeat that I shared exclusively with Tabby's Tantalizing Reviews back in October, and it was one of my favorite scenes to write. So for those of you who have not read it yet, enjoy!

~*~Unedited and subject to change~*~

Rubbing the sleep from my eyes as my feet slapped across the cold kitchen floor, I smacked right into the fridge door. Jesus, what the…

And that’s when I saw it. All six-foot-four of Robbie’s boyfriend, Lance, was standing there naked as a jaybird…and at full attention. It was one of those moments where I knew I should look away; divert my attention to anything but the rigid appendage pointing directly at me like an English Setter. He slowly brought the carton of orange juice up to his mouth, but not before I saw a smirk tug at the corner of his lips. And then I saw it move…

“Eww, eww, eww!” I squeezed my eyes shut and continued yelling until Robbie came running out his room. I opened my eyes just enough to see that he was rocking his birthday suit just as proudly as Lance. Oh, for Pete’s sake…

“Not you, too!” I turned around so I wasn’t tempted to look.

“What’s wrong, baby girl? What’s with all the shouting?” Robbie walked over to Lance, snaking the carton of juice out of his hands to take a swig for himself.

“Will y’all put some damn clothes on!? Since when do we walk around the apartment with everything hanging out and flapping in the breeze?”

Robbie chuckled, somehow managing not to sputter juice everywhere. “Hmm, I don’t remember reading anything about required attire in your little roommate agreement.”

I spun around and rolled my eyes at him before turning my attention back up to the ceiling. “Seriously? I didn’t think it was necessary to include that, since we’re civilized human beings and all. Or at least I thought we were.”

“Sorry about that, Maddie. I didn’t think you’d catch me out here. I’ll make sure to at least put boxers on next time.” Lance winked and pulled me into an awkward side hug that almost resulted in it touching my leg.

“Hey, you know this is my apartment, too. I should be able to walk around with my Johnson sprung free if I want to. You’re more than welcome to join me. It’s no secret that I’m not offended by the female anatomy.”

“That’s because you’re gay, dipshit! My lady bits don’t get you all hot and bothered. Me, on the other hand…it’s just…ughh! It’s just weird, okay!

“Baby girl, are you trying to tell me that my sexy ass gives you lady boners?” I could hear Lance chuckling at Robbie’s comment, and I turned to glare at him. At least he had his boxers on now.

“Both of you, please, just keep some clothes on when you’re outside of the bedroom. Seriously, what if I had company over?” I crossed my arms over my chest, feeling extremely awkward the longer our conversation went on. It was becoming more difficult to keep eye contact with Robbie, considering the current state he was in.

“Is Jeremy still here?” Robbie wasn’t exactly his biggest fan, and I could hear it in his tone.

“No. He left hours ago. Don’t try to change the subject. Just promise me you’ll keep your…member…covered from now on. Okay?”

Robbie smiled and grabbed a dishtowel, covering himself as he crossed the kitchen in my direction. My body stiffened in response to his close proximity, but he leaned in just close enough to press a kiss against my forehead. “I promise, baby girl. It won’t happen again.”

He took off toward his bedroom with Lance in tow. They were sickeningly sweet together, but I really was happy that they had each other. When Robbie first moved in, I was a little apprehensive about living with a guy. Just one look at him and I knew it would be impossible to avoid falling into bed with him. He was six-foot-two-inches of delicious eye candy; jet black hair, ice-blue eyes and a killer smile. When he told me he was gay, I was both relieved and disappointed. Why was it the hot ones were always gay? I swore it was like the universe was plotting against me every time I came across a decent, good-looking guy.
